The aim of this course is to acquaint the course participants with the concept of alternative sexual identities, sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expressions,
identify the challenges faced by the LGBTQIA+ community and acknowledge the rate of acceptance of the rights of LGBTQIA+ people around the world. The discussion of the
course will be set in the background of some of the critical theories emerging from the thoughts belonging to the history, politics, law, medical, and literature of alternative
sexual identities in ancient, medieval and contemporary India.
The course will create a platform to build awareness related to sexual and gender identity, sensitize the course participants regarding the stigmatization of the LGBTQIA+ community, foster free exchange of ideas and welcome diversity of opinion.
