DIGITAL ARCHIVE

Launched on 19th February 2016, the digital archiving project by Sappho for Equality aims to set up the first “Digital queer feminist archive” in Eastern India. Sappho Digital Archive for LGBTQ Information and Learning (acronym Sappho DALIL) collects, preserves, shares her-story and history of sexuality rights movements focusing on the two-decade long activism of SFE in eastern India whilst proclaiming our journey since 1999.

DALIL is the dynamic space for dialogue and debate consisting of newspaper clips, reports, photographs, resource materials, etc. as a treasure trove of evidential proof from the past and ongoing.

It is open for public view, access and use from Chetana Resource Center, and as an ongoing project intends to become a dependable source of information and learning for users.

TRANS MEET

The West Bengal Transgender Development Board was created in the year 2015. Members of Sappho for Equality - Neel Ghosh who identifies as a transmasculine person and Sutanuka Bhattacharya, a researcher, joined the board to contibute and ensure the rights of transmasculine persons. This led them to initiate and strike a dialogue about transmasculity, visibility of transmen in asian context and bringing to surface the lived experiences of transmasculne persons. The intent behind mobilising a Trans Meet was to bring forward the various lived realities of transmasculine identifying persons, their needs and demands from the State augmenting to an inclusive and diverse space within the Queer Movement for trans* visibility.
